Ardo Cold rooms were presented with the challenge of installing a bespoke freezer room for a gastro pub in Cornwall.
The client, located in a very unique setting, contacted Ardo Cold Rooms asking if we would be prepared to take on the design and install of an external freezer room.
The challenge that faced the team had many different aspects. Not only was the room to be located outside and next to the sea with access via a weir at low tide, but we had to make sure that we didn’t encroach on a public right of way and had to allow for the installation of ventilation duct work and air source heat pumps in the same area.
Following a site survey and initial design that included a specialist coating on the refrigeration to protect it from salt corrosion, Ardo Cold Rooms were awarded the project. Further minor revisions followed as we communicated with the other install companies involved and gained a greater understanding of the overall project. Once completed, the contractor signed off on the designs and installed the concrete plinth for the room to sit on.
Once the concrete was cured, Ardo Cold Rooms Install Team set to work. Over 4 days, a fully bespoke freezer room with sliding door was created and weather-proofed. On the final day, staff training was provided and the room handed over.
This is a project that we are very proud of. It took a whole team effort to deliver.
